The Starr of The Farm

My first chickens lived in a coop made of pallets that I precariously placed in an old dog run. I had no idea the amount of trouble this was going to cause me when it came to predators….even with all my ingenuity and reinforcements….because  raccoons are not picky about what part of a chicken they eat and whatever they can pull through that fencing….a leg…a tail! It becomes their midnight snack…

Sleep was fleeting back then…

Fast forward to the present and you’ll find this girl…Starr Moonflower or Star Baby for short (I know it’s not really shorter it’s just what comes out when I see her;)

she’s the gift that keeps on giving…she’s the light at the end of the tunnel…she’s the music to my ears (keep barking girl)…

The Great Pyrenees is truly a spectacular dog and it amazes me the instinct she has to protect our flock and herd.

She gets between the bucks and the does…between the Bucks and me!..she chases Hawks, vultures, and who knows what else during the night!

She is why I sleep soundly at night and the great white of my barnyard… I can’t imagine a farm without her, and we will always have one of her now that I know who the real star is.
